Xerxes is currently recruiting for a full-time Crane Operator / Yard Person at our plant in Anaheim, CA. If you are a motivated worker that wants to be treated well and be part of a team – Xerxes is looking for you!

 

 

Responsibilities:

The Certified Crane Operator / Yard Person is responsible for the safe operation of all lifting equipment for moving tanks, shipping finished product, receiving, and maintaining and organizing the shipping yard area. Responsibilities include:

  • Organizing loads and shipping tanks and accessories.
  • Coordinating the shipping schedule with the UST Coordinator and plans approach to each shipment of products.
  • Calculating crane capacity and performing rigging calculations.
  • Determining load weights through sources such as bills of lading, stamped weights, engineered drawings and previous lift history.
  • Stabilizing the crane before the lift.
  • Loading and unloading components for transport.
  • Performing pre-operational checks and regular inspections, including slings, shackles, and lifting chains. Coordinating the disposal and replacement of defective equipment as required.
  • Completing properly all shop order documents, bills of lading, packing lists, address labels, handling instructions, etc. for shipment of products.
  • Performing minor crane maintenance.
  • Performing daily crane inspection(s).
  • Ensuring work areas and equipment are clean and free of safety hazards on a continual basis.
  • Maintaining records, log books, annual certifications, etc.
  • Communicating with shipping companies and drivers to coordinate and load shipments.
  • Storing tanks in the yard and maintaining the tank tracking system.
  • Maintaining equipment and tools properly, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Notifying supervisor of any damage or non‑conformance to permit proper repair before shipment.
  • Assisting production by moving and delivery of parts, supplies and products by hand or with material handling equipment.
  • Assisting with month end inventory counts.
  • Performing general duties required to complete work, such as debris removal, facility and yard clean up, set up, etc.
  • Transporting tank(s) for storage using company vehicle and transport cart.
  • Communicating with rigger(s) during product loading.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent. Suitable experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
  • NCCO Crane Certification is required.
  • Experience and knowledge of forklift and crane operations.
  • Experience with a zoom boom, knuckle boom and scissor lift would be an asset.
  • Good understanding of Occupational Safety and Health legislation regarding crane operations.
  • Valid California Class C driver’s license.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English; Spanish is an asset.
  • Mathematical ability.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent visual and depth perception.
  • Team player with the ability to develop positive working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Knowledge of ZCL’s manufacturing process and products is an asset.
  • Valid certificate from an approved rigging course would be an asset.

 

This is a full time hourly position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday during business hours. The position is located in Xerxes’ Anaheim Plant located at 1210 North Tustin Avenue.
