ZCL Dualam, a ZCL Company, is currently recruiting for the role of Field Foreman. This position will be based out of our St. Gabriel LA (3505 Cypress Ave) manufacturing facility. Work will be performed on client sites in multiple field locations; as such regular regional travel is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Field Project Manager, the Field Foreman position is responsible for guiding and directing site construction teams to oversee activities related to the repair, maintenance and installation of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) vessels, piping and structures. Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Supervise all stages of work to ensure schedules are met including fabrication, assembly, and installation
  • Enforce and maintain quality and safety standards throughout the various stages of production; Lead regular toolbox/safety meetings
  • Ensure a safe workplace at all times through compliance with ZCL’s and our clients safety policies and procedures
  • Identify potential safety hazards and work closely with safety coordinator, and management to foster a culture or safe work habits and practices
  • Actively address any violation of safety policies and procedures
  • Troubleshoot problems and take corrective action; Including collaboration with construction management team as needed
  • Distributes work orders including blueprints, materials, and equipment needed; Including providing verbal and/or written instructions to hourly production employees
  • Actively supervise, monitor, and address hourly employees for absenteeism, job performance, and quality
  • Make recommendations to management on employee relations, including disciplinary action or dismissal, transfers and selection, and/or training of new employees
  • Make recommendations on potential process changes and improvements
  • Coordinate with quality control to ensure accuracy of work in accordance with approved blueprints throughout all stages of the process
  • Works with quality control to address non-conformance; ensure processes and employees meet requirements quality standards
  • Ensure training is conducted for new and existing employees on appropriate policies and procedures
  • Complete daily activity reports as required and submit to management
  • Conduct regular meetings with management team; provide feedback on appropriate staffing levels including potential skill gaps or shortages
  • Actively monitor time and material usage; ensure hourly employees are trained on appropriate coding processes for time and materials
  • Monitors hazardous waste storage and disposal on a regular basis
  • Actively perform construction work as required

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Post-secondary education or courses with a business or manufacturing focus would be an asset
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in field construction, preferably in the composites industry
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience with fiberglass & dual-laminate
  • Minimum 3 years of direct supervisory experience with at least 10 direct reports
  • Valid Driver’s license, TWIC card, including the ability to Travel is required.
  • Strong Math skills including the ability to read blueprints and drawings
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to proactively coach and discipline employees as needed
  • Strong Communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong leadership skills as well as the ability to develop positive working relationships with all levels of staff
  • A self-starter who takes a proactive approach
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to identify, analyze and troubleshoot problems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to lead and instruct employees in the proper and safe use of hand power tools, material handling, equipment and machinery proficiently
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 20-50 lbs., bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable working in a fiberglass plant and construction site environment
