Xerxes, a ZCL Company, is currently recruiting for the role of Plant Manager. This position will be based out of our Anaheim, CA (1210 North Tustin Ave) manufacturing facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director Underground Manufacturing, the Plant Manager is responsible for all plant operations, production and performance through planning, coordinating and evaluating the activities of the plant and its employees. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing production schedules, techniques and strategy;
  • Handling production problems and implementing solutions in an effective and timely manner;
  • Analyzing plant performance through reports including direct labor efficiency, productivity, absenteeism, inventory and backlog;
  • Ensuring that products are constructed within costing guidelines, using established standards for material and labor costs;
  • Working closely with the engineering and floor supervisors, looking for improvement and innovation from the shop floor;
  • Working closely with COO and peers in the coordination and delivery of products, customer service and employees for Field projects as required;
  • Promoting plant safety, health and environment by ensuring that appropriate processes programs and procedures are in effect;
  • Managing and controlling inventories of finished products and managing inventory, material and supply issues;
  • Managing the raw material/tool/equipment inventories with support from Purchasing and Customer Service, ensuring availability to meet production requirements
  • Ensuring Quality Control throughout the plant by ensuring that all products are manufactured and delivered within established ZCL quality assurance and service guidelines;
  • Ensuring appropriate employee management, including controlling of staffing, scheduling, employee development and performance management;
  • Providing monthly, weekly, and ad hoc reports to Senior Leadership including forecasting, production scheduling, safety, product development and major maintenance/building repairs/improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree from an accredited post-secondary institution (preferably in Engineering or Business Management). Minimum seven (7) years of equivalent experience in a senior management role in a high capacity, fast-paced, manufacturing environment will be considered in lieu of the required education.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ facility management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of plant management and production control principles; methods of controlling and enforcing quality production standards; and health and safety requirements;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
  • Proven leadership, change management, and employee relations skills, including the ability to increase employee engagement, strong coaching and development as well as resolve performance concerns (e.g. absenteeism, work quality);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Advanced computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel);
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP systems preferred;
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing;
  • Excellent organizational & administrative skills with the ability to work with minimum direction and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel;
  • Strong mathematical skills combined with the ability to read and understand fabrication blueprints;
  • Previous experience in FRP composites is a definite asset, although on-the-job training will be provided.
