Xerxes is currently recruiting to the role of Production Manager (Second Shift). This position will be based out of our Anaheim, CA (1210 North Tustin Ave) manufacturing facility. If you are a motivated leader that wants to be treated well and be part of a team – Xerxes is looking for you!

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager plans and supervises manufacturing activities throughout all stages of production including molding, assembly, testing, and shipment of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) underground storage tanks. Accountabilities will include driving day to day accountabilities with production staff as well as process improvement efforts, leading to greater efficiency, speed of delivery, and cost savings.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute on master planning, scheduling, resource planning and leading improvement projects aligned towards site goals and objectives
  • Manage FRP operations; ensuring safe, efficient and effective use of resources
  • Drive economic manufacture of products including labor, material usage, quality, and inventory control.
  • Actively participate in recruitment, training, and placement of production employees
  • Maintain high quality standards through on-the-floor interaction with employees and verifying each step of production for quality and accuracy
  • Issue work orders including blueprints, materials and equipment needed
  • Work closely with internal groups and departments including sales, engineering, and customer service to troubleshoot problem areas and ensuring production needs are met
  • Supervise production leads and supervisors and address performance issues as necessary
  • Provide daily direction, coaching, and leadership to lead hands to ensure plant alignment with operational strategies and company goals
  • Review and compile daily, weekly, and monthly reporting activities as required
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment by ensuring employees are working in a safe manner at all times consistent with company policies and procedures
  • Audit and approving hours in the ERP system on a daily basis
  • Play a key role in implementation of new processes, equipment, and products
  • Lead the advancement and implementation of lean manufacturing initiatives

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 7 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the fiberglass or composites industry. Strong production management experience, preferably in a diverse environment
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a plant superintendent or similar leadership role.
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in operations, engineering or related discipline and/or quantifiable experience equivalent in technical field
  • Proven competency in PC applications such as: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, and MS Project
  • Lean-Six Sigma Training
  • Understanding of OPEX and related Lean Leadership principles
  • Clear understanding of 5S and Lean Concepts, Practices, and Deployment Strategies
  • Proven ability to manage operational costs and performance metrics
  • Analytical problem solver who can make decisions and follow through on implementation
  • Motivational and team building skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar MRP/ERP systems
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills
  • Conversational and basic Spanish is required
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings
  • Previous experience and training in FRP/composites is a definite asset
  • Excellent organizational & administrative skills with the ability to work with minimum direction and coordinate multiple projects concurrently
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally
